It does not look good for PAP.
Their responses to various incidents have only shown us that they don’t like to own their mistakes.
From talking about how public transport fares should not be tied to performance after the multiple train breakdowns, to MDDI blaming Singaporeans for wanting privacy.
It is clear that they like to fault Singaporeans for pointing out their shortcomings. All they offer us is non-apologies along the lines of “sorry you feel this way”, instead of saying sorry for their mistakes.
Singaporeans are smart enough to see that they do not take our opinions into account when making decisions. They only hear us when enough people complain, and even then they offer some excuse about why they do what they did.
They are wasting too much time and resources playing dirty
This parliament term had the largest vacation of seats post-independence since the inaugural parliament back in 1965. Raeesah Khan was ousted for her unsubstantiated allegations in Parliament on three occasions. Cheng Li Hui, Tan Chuan Jin, and Leon Perera left due to extramarital affairs. Iswaran was jailed for multiple charges including corruption.
At first, it seems like bad decisions made on the individuals’ part. However, if you were to look at the timing at which the different extramarital affairs were announced, it is clear that PAP was keeping Leon Perera’s video to be released at the same time in which Tan Chuan Jin-Cheng Li Hui’s extramarital affair was announced. Perhaps they were hoping that WP would share the spotlight with them.
However, we can all tell that PAP attempted to keep Tan Chuan Jin and Cheng Li Hui’s affair under wraps for as long as possible, seeing that then-PM Lee Hsien Loong knew about the affair about a year prior. They only decided to share the news when they had something about the opposition.
The way the PAP dealt with Raeesah Khan’s unsubstantiated allegations in parliament is also very ugly.
Raeesah Khan is the one who made all the missteps. Yet they have spent hours trying to find fault in the way Pritam Singh dealt with the matter. They first tried to tire him out by interrogating him for more than 8 hours about how he dealt with the matter. Then they charge him for lying, when nothing he said is a clear cut lie.
Now they have spent hours on Pritam Singh. It seems like they hope Singaporeans will get more confused with new story lines that come up in their investigations, and they hope that we see Workers’ Party in a bad light. Let me give you a wake up call, while we all can agree that Raeesah Khan is wrong to have lied, the grilling of Pritam Singh and trying to drag the opposition party down in this way is only making PAP seem petty and childish.
It is the opposition’s time to gain more seats!
This piece is already getting too long and I haven’t gone into the details of how they try to play with words whenever they are responding to Leong Mun Wai and other opposition party members in parliament. Their attempt at trying to stay current with the various TikTok videos and podcast appearances only makes their viewers cringe. It also tells us that they rather spend time on these than making useful changes for Singapore.
Many Singaporeans can tell that the PAP has fallen behind. They are not what they used to be. This is our chance to vote in the opposition.
