[Contributed by Lim] One of the first moves made by Elon Musk after taking over Twitter is to fire a huge proportion of their staff. Most of the ones affected were from Twitter’s India team. CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal along with legal and policy head Vijaya Gadde, all who are Indian-origin, were also not spared.
Twitter employees globally received an email on 4 November, informing them that they will lose access to Twitter’s internal systems, like Slack, emails etc., if their role is impacted by the downsizing.
This is a smart move, and maybe companies in Singapore should learn from him.
He said that Twitter was making $4m losses every day, so it made sense to fire those who were involved. Elon Musk made the right move. If a company is not doing well, fire those who were behind it. Don’t continue with these people hoping that things will change.
Is it a coincidence that most of the people he fired were Indian-origin? Maybe we should learn from twitter and have the guts to remove under-performing individuals! Doesn’t matter if we economic have a partnership with their country!
