Murali Pillai Wants Homeless People to Be Vaccinated

These people are homeless but the MP’s concern is getting them jabbed, not finding a roof over their head?

Wait, there are homeless people in Singapore? How can it be? Mayors are so highly paid! Well, according to Bukit Batok MP Murali Pillai, there are homeless people and he is concerned that they are not getting vaccinated. Read that again. These people are homeless but the MP’s concern is getting them jabbed, not finding a roof over their head? Where are his priorities?

On his Facebook this morning, Murali Pillai wrote that two Bukit Batok community leaders met a “rough sleeper” a few weeks ago. They bought him food but while eating he appeared unwell. They called an ambulance to send him to the hospital and later learnt he contracted covid-19 and passed away. This led Murali to think about vaccinating “rough sleepers”.

This is his full post:

He completely missed the point.

Firstly, why are there “rough sleepers” and homeless people in the first place? Shouldn’t the MP’s job be to help them? Why are they paid to ignore the issue?

Secondly, it was his constituency workers who attended to the man, not Murali himself. Where has he been all this while? What he is doing is just coming out to wayang after the incident has happened to look like a hero, as he has always done.

It is laughable that an MP can completely sidestep and important issue and plant the focus on something else. Does he not care to find out why these people are sleeping outside? Is vaccination going to solve the problem?
