This includes Taiwan’s 1st case of Omicron subvariant BQ.1 imported from China. As reported by Taiwan News, the 2000 passengers make up 17% of arrivals from China.
Meanwhile in Singapore, we are not sure about the infection rate. Specific figures about how many cases come from China has yet to be shared with us. Maybe they also don’t have the numbers since they don’t want to test travelers from China.
However, if you think about it, Singapore is a lot smaller than Taiwan. That could mean that COVID spreads faster here. We can only look at our overall COVID infection numbers to extrapolate information from there. It has been 5 days since they opened up, we shall see next week’s statistics.
Hope they don’t use our resources
Just in December, many Chinese were already sweeping our pharmacies for Panadol and other medicine to send back. Now that more can come here, what else will they take from us?
Our government want to “monitor and see how”, we have no choice but to do that also. Hopefully most of us will get to celebrate Chinese New Year properly for the first time in 3 years.
